12:00 AM Sunday Feb. 7th - 11:59 PM Sunday Feb. 14th Conversation Hearts. Love them or hate them, they’ve been a staple of Valentine’s Day for over a century. The chalky confections’ messages have changed with the times, but they still remain a constant presence: their occasionally illegible messages bearing missives from the ambiguous “SMILE” to the demanding “BE MINE”. Since commercial holidays start earlier and earlier every year, on Midnight, February 7th, each of the Different will discover a little cardboard box of them: in a coat pocket, a desk drawer, or maybe right out on the counter next to where they leave their keys. If the box is ignored, a new one will show up in another Suspiciously Convenient Spot… but really, it’s February in America, and you can’t spit without hitting a box of them. That’s perfectly normal, right? Anyone who succumbs to sugary temptation and pops one of the little slow-melting hearts in their mouth may notice that after a few minutes or so (less time if they crunch and make their dentist sad), something is … off. If they don’t … the people around them just might, for sure. As soon as the writing on the heart dissolves, the message on the heart will impact the character’s behavior. We’ve come up with a few examples to show you what we mean, as well as a few guidelines. At the stroke of midnight after Valentine's Day, any remaining hearts will dissolve within the box into a chalky dust. Anyone who breathes it in … will just find themselves the victim of a serious coughing fit. They’ve weathered enough … for now. Sample Messages ![]() Not sure what sort of message your character will be taking to heart? Here are a few examples:
Questions If you have a question that isn't answered here, please ask it in the designated comment thread below! How long do the effects last? Depending on the nature of the message, it can last either 2 hours or for a set number of instances (such as the effect for “LOVE YOU”). What happens if my character eats more than one candy? Combine the effects of several messages and see what you can come up with… those with sweet tooths may be in for an interesting time! Can we use hearts with things like “HUG ME” or “KISS ME”? ANY heart with a message that implies physical or otherwise intimate contact must be mutually agreed on by both players, in accordance with Tramitem’s “no nonconsensual situations” rule. What happens if we give (the box of/a few) candies to someone who isn’t one of the Different? The candies will have no effect on them … but … another box will show up to take their place. Can my character just stay in and only connect via the Network? You could sure try, but most effects can happen over text or video just as easily. Can we make up our own messages? As long as they follow the Tramitem rules & guidelines, yes! You can have up to two lines of text with five letters or symbols on each line - so that’s a total of ten spaces. Are they flavored? Yep! There’s that signature chalky aftertaste, but the colors and flavors are: white (mint), pink (strawberry), orange (guess!), yellow (lemon), green (lime), blue (raspberry) and purple (grape). QUESTIONS
Re: QUESTIONS
Re: QUESTIONS
Your character's memory event is what enters them into the game. And prior to their memory event, they would not be affected by plots.
However, a player's character's memory event can be anywhere up to two weeks before the character is formally accepted. So, if you're willing to say your character's memory event was sometime in the past two weeks, it's fine for them to back tag into things posted within the last two weeks.
